Caregivers' Wellness Workshop

This workshop provides information about caregiving stress and teaches simple coping skills to deal with caregiver stress. The workshop is conducted in an informal setting providing an opportunity for caregivers to interact with other caregivers while working on simple knitting, crochet, and craft projects. Participants can bring their own material or use the materials provided by us.

We provide a Culturally Sensitive wellness workshop for all caregivers who speak Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi. Our multi-lingual classes can help participants, who have English language limitations, to get information on health and wellness.

This one hour workshop teaches easy to learn stress management techniques that include positive affirmations,mindfulness, guided imagery, creative visualization, deep breathing (Pranayama), and laughter yoga. Participants are also provided information on health and wellness.

 Day of the the meeting:  3rd Wednesday of every month

Time of the Meeting: 11:15 a.m.  to 12:15 p.m.

This class helps family caregivers understand the physical and mental symptoms of stress associated with providing care to a loved one who has dementia or Alzheimer's. The class also teaches caregivers how to reduce stress through relaxation techniques, deep breathing (Pranayama yoga techniques), mindfulness, and laughter yoga. 

 

 Day of the the Class:  1st Thursday of every month

Time of the Class : 3:30 p.m. to 4: 30 p.m.

This workshop is designed to help you learn how to deal with everyday stress, particularly in these challenging times when we are dealing with Covid-19. Simple relaxation techniques, deep breathing, mindfulness, and creative visualizations are used to help you feel calm and deeply relaxed. These exercises promote physical and emotional well-being.

Our wellness events include motivational speakers and educational information about services and programs that promote wellness of mind, body, and spirit.  

The community group participation events scheduled for the year 2020 include a combination of Laughter yoga and simple Pranayama exercises in each group session:

Laughter Yoga

Come and join our laughter group and improve your physical and emotional well-being. Simple laughing exercises without jokes brings out the inner child, and the combination of laughter with deep breathing yoga exercises brings more oxygen to our body, and brain, which helps us feel more energetic and healthy.

Pranayama

Pranayama are yoga breathing exercises which focus on the conscious awareness of breath: the life force that energizes and relaxes the body.

Day: Every Tuesday

Time:               5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
